My approach to public service is guided by pragmatism, balance, and respect for differing viewpoints. I believe effective government depends on cooperation, civility, and a focus on results that improve everyday life for Iowans.

Strong public schools are the foundation of strong communities, and public resources should be used to strengthen the system that serves most families. I support equal rights and fair treatment for all, and I believe understanding our shared history—fully and honestly—helps us build a better future together.

Every Iowan deserves reasonable access to affordable, local healthcare. Access to health care should not be a three day wait for basic care. Too many communities face challenges for basic care. Iowa’s high cancer rates are the second highest in the nation and require urgent, bipartisan attention. These challenges are not partisan—they are practical problems that demand serious solutions. {What is a solution ?}

Access to Housing that is Affordable is critical to community stability. Preserving historic homes in partnership with Home Builders and the trade association, expanding housing options, and supporting healthy neighborhoods help families put down roots and strengthen local communities.

I am committed to working with people of all political backgrounds to move Iowa forward with fairness, responsibility, and respect.

Civility and Good Governance
I am committed to civil discourse and responsible governance. Our system is designed to encourage cooperation, not rigid ideological divisions. Throughout our history, progress has come from leaders willing to listen, compromise, and work across differences. Restoring that spirit is essential to moving our state forward.

Public Education
Strong public schools are central to strong communities. Public education should remain focused on serving all students and preparing them for success, while ensuring public resources are used to strengthen the public system that most families rely on.

Civil Rights
I have long supported equal rights and fair treatment for all people. Growing up during the Civil Rights Movement shaped my belief that protecting civil rights strengthens our democracy. I support a strong, independent Iowa Civil Rights Commission and believe local Human Rights commissions should be adequately supported and work collaboratively with community partners.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
I believe opportunity should be open to everyone. Understanding our full history—including the experiences of different communities—helps us learn from the past and build a more inclusive future. Efforts to promote fairness and inclusion should be thoughtful, accurate, and respectful, and policy concerns should be addressed transparently through the legislative process.

Access to Affordable Healthcare
Every Iowan should have reasonable access to affordable, local healthcare. Too many rural and underserved communities face long travel times for basic services. Addressing healthcare access is a practical necessity for families, workers, and local economies.

Cancer Rates in Iowa
Iowa’s high cancer rates represent a serious public health challenge. Addressing this issue requires bipartisan cooperation, sound science, and a commitment to protecting the health of our communities.

Preservation of Century Housing
Historic homes contribute to the character and stability of many Iowa neighborhoods. Preserving these homes through responsible restoration supports local economies and community pride. I support working with home builders, building trade groups, and homeowners to develop practical restoration and preservation policies.

Affordable Housing
Housing affordability affects families across the political spectrum. I am committed to working with local governments to strengthen existing programs, expand housing options, and promote stable, healthy neighborhoods where people can put down roots.
